Location
You will find us in the remote Mentawai Islands, off the western coast of Sumatra. The Mentawai Islands are first and foremost home to the indigenous people of Indonesia, and have also grown their reputation for being a surf mecca for perfect wave seekers.
We found our sanctuary on an idyllic Nyang Nyang island, setting our roots at Mentawai Surf Retreat.
MSR has been welcoming surfers from far corners of the globe for almost a decade and have now opened its ‘umas’ to welcome MaliMai guests. This is an island of pure jungle. You won’t find any streets or fashion stores here!
Accommodation
You will be sleeping in one of Mentawai Surf Retreat’s beach front bungalows. Each handcrafted bungalow accommodates 3-4 guests and is designed to soak in the ocean breeze to keep you cool. A beautiful indoor/outdoor en suite bath with tropical backdrop is at the rear of each bungalow. Every bungalow boasts its own private deck for you to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Perched on the Pitstop Hill hillside, overlooking the waves at Pitstops with islands in the distance, it is the perfect backdrop for every sunset.
